User Agent Switcher 0.6.7

Version 0.6.7 of the User Agent Switcher extension has been released. This release adds Netscape support and some code optimization as well as being compatible with Firefox 1.5 Beta.

The Netscape support was not working and I am not really sure why, so I have removed it for now and will look to add the support back in for a future release.

Update: The localized version was not working correctly and has been updated with a new version.

Using the localized version of User Agent Switcher 0.6.7, I get the following error after install and browser restart:
Error: [JavaScript Error: “no element found” {file: “chrome://useragentswitcher/content/menu.xul” line: 1 column: 1 source: “
^”}]
Source File: chrome://useragentswitcher/content/menu.xul
Line: 1, Column: 1
Source Code:
^
No problem so far using the english only version.

Now, my “User Agent Switcher” toolbar buttom show’s only a “dropmarker”; the text “User Agent” and the globe icon is missing… =/

But this works correctly… :)

This works for me so I’m not sure what the problem is. You could try uninstalling and reinstalling the extension to see if it fixes the problem.

However, as I stated in the previous post:

“I will not be providing any support for issues that are only related to Firefox 1.5 Beta and do not occur in Firefox 1.0”

Sorry, but I still am not supporting beta builds - I am just making my extensions “compatible” due to popular demand. If this problem persists in the Firefox 1.5 final release then let me know and I’ll see if I can reproduce the issue.

Cool - there were a couple of bugs in my localized build. That will teach me to test both versions next time! :)

User Agent Switcher is one of my favorite test plugins - thank you!

I see in the FAQ there is no intention of expanding the list of pre-defined user agents. Would you consider webhosting ‘extra’ user agent XML files which could be imported? This would save users from creating and maintaining their own files for eLinks, Pocket IE, etc.

Thanks!

Chris,

UAS is awesome, thanks!

Am I missing something, though? Is there a way to change my default — my company’s intranet is designed for IE.

links to user-agent files would be great. Correctly adding the right user-agent info to the specific fields you designate is difficult if you don’t know how to break down user-agent strings. Finding a string and cutting and pasting it in to one field in your extension would be simple enough. But, your various fields, while maybe necessary, makes it very difficult for the general user to customize and add user-agents. What do you think?

Adding a Mac user-agent string on install would also be useful.

Otherwise, a great app. Thank you for the hard work!

People are free to post their exported list of user agents online and many people do - a quick Google search will find them. They can also be posted in the forums.

As for adding new default user agents please read the FAQ.
