Ireland and Halloween Photos
Lor and Ian returned from a vacation in Ireland and uploaded their photos to Ofoto. Enjoy the beautiful scenery, the varied wildlife and the comedy captions.

Back From Vacation
I just returned from a week long vacation in Hawaii. I met my parents out there and it was great to see them, as well as a nice and relaxing week away from work. I was staying on the Big Island and did a helicopter tour, drove round the Volcano National Park and stopped off at a few other places. I also made sure I had a couple of days of just sitting around and relaxing which I really needed.
I have uploaded a bunch of photos from Hawaii split across a few albums. My camera broke just before the holiday so I had to borrow Cherie's camera, but some of the pictures came out pretty well.
I'm now catching up with work and emails, so if you sent me something recently I should get to it soon.
St. Martin Photos
Lor and Ian just got back from their holiday in St. Martin and they have uploaded their photos to Ofoto. The beaches look beautiful and ridiculously empty, while the photo of the plane landing is insane.

Amy has sent through a couple of albums of the new house now that they have moved in. The first album covers the move and the initial painting they did. Yesterday I got to check out the painting job - which looks really good - and break in Sam's new toy as they had the first barbeque in their new place. The weather and food was fantastic and it was a nice way to spend your Sunday afternoon...even if the Brits were not too happy about what had happened earlier in the day.
Photo Updates
Lor and Ian have just uploaded the photos from when they were here in March. There are a bunch of photos from Tahoe and some photos from San Francisco plus a few extras.
Amy and Sam also sent me some photos of their new house a while ago. I have not posted them until now as I did not want to tempt fate until the house was theirs, but having helped them move some boxes at the weekend I think it is safe!

This weekend I moved from my old apartment into Dave's house which is partly why I have not posted anything recently. I took a few photos using the camera on my new cell phone (more about that in a future post) including Ollie not being very helpful and the mess that is my bedroom.
I also quickly upgraded this blog to the all-singing, all-dancing WordPress 1.2. It took about 15 minutes to merge in my customized templates and about 1 minute to do the actual upgrade. So far I haven't seen any problems, but let me know if you see any issues.
Now that I am running the latest version I will be looking to do some upgrades to the blog including tweaking the template and adding inline mini-posts as implemented by Matt Mullenweg.
Robot Olympics

Today I went to ROBOlympics: "the first ever event to bring robot competitions and competitors together from around the world at a single place". All the events were held at the Herbst Pavilion in Fort Mason and included sumo wrestling, fire fighting, soccer and more. I took a few photos of the robots and outside along Marina Green. It was a lot of fun and certainly a different way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Sake Bombs Away

It was Amy's birthday last weekend and we had dinner at Yoshida-Ya - a sushi restaurant in San Francisco. A great time was had by all...especially once the sake started flowing. Check out Michelle's and Dave's photos from the night including the sake bomb competition between Arik and Sam.
Golden Gate Park and Tahoe Photos
I was on vacation last week while my sister and brother-in-law were visiting from England and I took some photos of the three of us in Golden Gate Park. As you can see, the weather was great and it is even better this week with temperatures hitting 82°F on Monday.
Lor and I also went to Tahoe at the beginning of last week and I finished off the film on my disposable camera that I mentioned previously. The photos are not great because of the camera and the conditions, but some are not bad.
Photography
I have received a few compliments about the photos that I post on this site - most recently for the Yosemite album. The camera I use is a Sony CyberShot P5 and it has served me very well. However, seeing photos such as this award winner from the World Press Photo contest and the amazing collection at Sensitive Light, I have been considering upgrading my camera. Obviously, I don't expect a hardware upgrade to suddenly improve my photographic abilities, but a higher quality camera which gives me more control and has a more powerful zoom would be helpful. Heather Champ uses a Canon EOS Digital Rebel and this camera is currently top of my purchase list.
