Updated patch releases for both the Web Developer and User Agent Switcher extensions have been released.
This version of the Web Developer extension fixes an issue where the ‘View Generated Source’ feature did not work as well, as combining the Firefox and Seamonkey versions of the extension into one build. The User Agent Switcher extension release should hopefully fix the problem with importing user agents in nested folders once and for all.
Apologies for the frequent updates, but hopefully these will be the final patch releases before the next major releases of the extensions.

The Web Developer translation for Brazilian Portuguese is very bad.
Please, fix it or exclude this bad translation.
Thanks!
I added an item in the FAQ about this, but basically all support requests for the localizations should go to the localization authors at BabelZilla.
Thanks for the Firefox 3.5 update!
Great development tool. Thank you!
No apologies, Chris! You’re doing great work and I hope you’ll be enjoying the Weezer album.
Thanks
lars
thx for that great add-on. i often use it to detect cloaking or emulate mobile agents and it’s really saving time. thanks so much
A great piece of work.
Suggestion: under Information -> View document size, have an option to exclude anything already cached (e.g. stylesheets, graphics).
po — I’ll look into this for a future release.
Any news on when a 3.5.1 update will be issued?
Mark — both extensions are marked compatible with Firefox 3.5.* so they already work with Firefox 3.5. If you are having problems please read the installation help documentation.
I am also having problems with web developer in firefox version 3.5.1. It was fine until firefox updated to 3.5.1 then it disappeared
I have gone through the installation documentation and nothing seemed to help.
It works fine for me with 3.5.*
@bob: for me, it was a localisation problem, 1.1.6 did not upgrade to 1.1.8 (i suppose because it was missing the german localisation). after manually installing 1.1.8, everything was fine and fast and compatible as ever.
big thanx to chris, as always!! ;~}
I did install 1.1.8 manually and still nothing. It shows up in my extensions but that’s it. I have uninstalled firefox and re-installed it and gone through the installation documentation but still it does not show up. I run windows XP. I can live without it but it would be nice if I could get it back
Bob — if the extension is installed, but the toolbar is not displaying then please read this post in the forums.
Also, please post any further support questions in the forums — blog comments are not the place for support as noted in the comment guidelines below.
Thanks Chris
I checked it out but it didn’t help. I will check the forums and post there.
Thanks I finally got it.
Finally I got the update for FF 3.5, somehow the update failed every time so I thought you never updated it. I feel helpless without this extension
Keep up the good work!
Nice tool. I like the user agent switch to a robot.
I love user agent. I just need to know on why is that when I close the browser the agent go back to default and do not stay as checked once I re-open the browser again? Thanks.
Rob
rob — please read the FAQ.
Your site forum seems to be down. I’m getting php error message about /home/758/domains/chrispederick.com/html/blog/wp-content/plugins/bad-behavior/bad-behavior-generic.php missing.
Richard — Thanks — it’s fixed now.
Great extension, Thanks!
i love both of these extensions — they’re steady and often called upon companions, have been for years now
heres an additional use of useragentswitcher i have actually started to use it for: theres a web site of mine which i monitor with log emails (get an email everytime someone goes to that site). now i dont want to get that email when i go to that site (at different places with different ips) and try out things on that or so. so i simply exclude a browser called the regular firefox string (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061204 blablabla…) and add a code that only i know. thus i can exclude my own hits to that site and am not nothered by the log emails.
please continue these awesome extensions!
johann
I am not able to download this extension. In my firefox I try all the ways to download. But still not able to download. Plz send me the extension.
Amit — Please read the help.
SeaMonkey 2 was officially released a couple of days ago and when I try to install, I get the message ‘not compatible with SeaMonkey 2.0′. From what I read in the release notes (for SeaMonkey) they have moved it a lot closer to Firefox. I’m guessing that the problem may be more to do with the checks than with the code. Any plans to test it against SeaMonkey 2.0?
Roger — Please see my post in the forums.
Just to update my previous post: I unpacked the XPI file and edited the install.rdf to change the maximum Seamonkey release to 2.0 and then packed the result, installed, and it seems to be working. The code I changed is right near the end and now reads:
{92650c4d-4b8e-4d2a-b7eb-24ecf4f6b63a}
2.0
1.0
(It’s the line with MaxVersion that I changed.)
So thanks to Chris for this very helpful code. To everybody else: your mileage may vary, this is an experiment, don’t blame me (or Chris) if it doesn’t work.
Sorry — I had a search around and did not spot your post. And also sorry to learn you’ve been under the weather, I hope you’re better now. And here, I hope, is the code I should have posted (I had not realised that WordPress would take my input as HTML):
<em:targetApplication>
<Description>
<em:id>{92650c4d-4b8e-4d2a-b7eb-24ecf4f6b63a}</em:id>
<em:maxVersion>2.0</em:maxVersion>
<em:minVersion>1.0</em:minVersion>
</Description>
</em:targetApplication>
I would like to add an option to recharge the menu style sheets CSS. Like this: http://david.dojotoolkit.org/recss.html
Cristiantheevil — ‘Reload External Content’ is already on the to-do list.
WebDeveloper 1.1.8 throws an unnecessary “Warning: Missing closing ’)’ in negation pseudo-class ‘a’.” which is triggers by the jQuery selector syntax: $(‘a[target=“_blank”]:not(li a)’)
The :not() syntax in jQuery is enhanced, compared to the CSS standard, so it appears to me, as if WD puts out a warning, since it checks for CSS compliance only.
I’m just saying! Greaaaat tool, though!!! Thanks a lot!
maxpower9000 — The errors all come from the browser and are just displayed by the extension so any issues should be reported to Mozilla.
Thx for share this big Addon.
Glad Christmas! And Happy New Year .
The German Translation is ok.
Thx Thx Thx
