Web Developer Beta 0.9.9

Web Developer Beta 0.9.9 — a preview release of the next version of the Web Developer extension — is now publicly available. This release is for testing purposes only — for a fully supported version of the extension or localized builds please see the latest official release.

If you are upgrading from a previous version it is strongly recommended that you uninstall the extension and restart the browser before installing the beta release.

Nearly a year in the making this release includes numerous new features and bug fixes. The list of new features is in the “Already Built For The Next Release” section of the to-do list and the list of bug fixes is in the “Already Fixed For The Next Release” section of the known issues page.

Known Issues

As a beta release this build is not guaranteed to be stable and does contain some known issues in addition to those listed as “Open Issues” on the known issues page:

  • File size features do not work with files that are not in the cache
  • Opening the page in another application does not work on Mac OS X
  • ‘View Frame Source’ does not work in Firefox 1.5

The idea behind this beta release is to give people the opportunity to provide feedback about this next version as well as report any bugs. Please report any feedback or bugs in the beta forum or via the contact form.

Very nice! I especially like the outline current element and clicking it gives you the css in a new tab. Also, good job on the new groupings of features, items are organized a little better than the previous release.

As far as having too many features, I’d like to think its best to have as many tools in your toolbox as possible. Better to have it there for the rare moment you need it then to swear you miss it when it’s needed.

I am getting a download error for the FireFox link.. I uninstalled the previous version. I’m on FF 1.0.7

    Any ideas?

  3. The link is working for me. You will need to allow installs from this site or follow the installation troubleshooting section of the documentation.

    Thanx !!

Is it possible to have CSS print out in color similar to how source code prints in color. I have not found a way to print CSS in color and DreamWeaver doesn’t support this either.
I use Web Developer all the time. Thanks so much!

  7. I’ll look into syntax highlighting for a future release.

I absolutely LOVE the “Display Element Information” tool! You’ve really out done yourself this time. I have passed the word along to the folks at http://www.dgrin.com about your newest toolbar (I’m the mod in the smugmug customizations room — come on over if you’d like). Those of us who are with Smugmug really love your toolbar. It makes customizing our sites so much easier. The first thing that I do when people mention that they’re having difficulties with customizations is to tell them about your toolbar. Other than the browser itself, your toolbar is the utility that I use the most.

    Thanks a bunch!
    Mike

I have some kind of bug with this version. I cant open more than one window. Im using FF 1.0.6.

  10. I am not seeing this in any of my environments. I would suggest upgrading to Firefox 1.0.7 and installing the extension in a clean profile.

Please post in the forum if you are still having issues.
