Trying to get a file downloaded that requires IE

Okay, so I was trying to download a file from fileplanet, and for some stupid reason, they have Mac files there that require Internet Explorer running on Windows in order to download them (which I feel is simply poor planning on their part).

They referred me to the User Agent, and so I downloaded and installed it... but I can't get it to do what they said it would do...

Here is what they told me to do.

Hi there,

To download from FilePlanet using a Mac if you get a Forbidden 403 error:

1) Download and install the Useragent-Switcher Extension for Firefox https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/59/

2) Create a Useragent string that represents Firefox on Windows, the same build you've installed on MacOS

3) Change the useragent to the newly created setting

4) Navigate to the server selection page for the file you want

5) pick a server. You'll get a message that says " Unable to install the FilePlanet Download Control!". You get the same message when you try to download any file using Firefox on any windows flavor - Firefox just doesn't install ActiveX plugins. The message contains a link "continue to queue".

6)If you click on this link, you get a "forbidden" message . You need to copy this link into the main window where you changed the useragent. If you do that, you're in the queue and downloading works just fine.

The only problem is creating the correct string for it to work. I've got FireFox 2.0.0.5.  So does that mean that I need to get the Software Configuration of the same version running on windows?
And where can I get that? I looked all over in this forum and even followed the links to the various xml sites, but to no avail.

Any help would be wonderful.
Thanks.

Sorry, I cannot provide support for individual sites since they all behave differently and I do not have the time to look into each individual problem.

Maybe someone else can help you or you can try posting in the MozillaZine forums where there are more people who can help:
